In Summer 2021 I was accepted into SOHO Gallery and joined their artist cooperative program. SOHO’s co-op was an ideal way to reconnect with Tallahassee’s Railroad Square Art District, a creative haven including but not limited to galleries, vintage and antique shops, a non-profit theater, specialty sports/activities businesses, and plenty of shared spaces for live music performances and local cuisine tastings. Throughout the year that I held a resident artist role at SOHO and immersed myself in Railroad Square’s First Friday monthly festival, I gained a new perspective into the necessity for fostering community engagement and the need to keep arts alive.
